JESUS

The Holy Bible lays out a special plan or road to guide us to accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. We call this the Romans Road.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

The first step in this road is to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Salvation is a free gift to each of us, not something we have to earn. All we have to do is to believe.

"…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

God sent His son to earth as a baby born to the virgin Mary. He grew up, experiencing the same temptations that we do, but, unlike us, Jesus never sinned. He was perfect. But, since we have done wrong, we are sinners. No matter how hard we try to do what is right, we still mess up.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

Because of our sins, we deserve to die, but God has created a way for our sins to be erased. This way is through Jesus.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Jesus died on the cross, taking all of our sins on his shoulders. He died for us. After three days, God raised Jesus from the dead. He now lives with God in heaven.

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10

Because of Jesus’ love for us, we have a way, through Jesus, to go to heaven. What we must do is to believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is the Lord of our life. This can be done with a simple prayer.

"Dear Lord,
I confess that I am a sinner and have done wrong in your eyes. Please forgive me. You died on the cross for my sins then rose again three days later. I want you to come into my life. Please come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. Thank you for your love and forgiveness.
Amen"
